From Puma to SwitchBlade – AeroVironment’s systems assisting Ukraine

With the ongoing Russian invasion in Ukraine numerous UAS systems are supplied or donated to Ukranian forces.

The following are reports of AeroVironments’ systems for Ukraine:

Switchblade:

In mid-March it was reported that Switchblade loitering munitions would be supplied as part of the (original) $800 million arms package.

RQ-20 Puma:

According to a contract published by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on April 14, 2022, AeroVironment was awarded a $19,737,523 firm-fixed-price contract for RQ-20 Puma AE systems, reconnaissance surveillance and target acquisition kits, initial spares package, contractor logistics support and new equipment training for the country of Ukraine.

Quantix:

According to information published on April 19, 2022, AeroVironment announced it will donate more than 100 Quantix Recon unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and operational training services to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and territorial forces amid the ongoing war against Russia. The donation was presented to the Ambassador and the Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Ukraine by AeroVironment chairman, president and chief executive officer Wahid Nawabi during a face-to-face meeting last week.
